Saunie Schuster is a Partner at TNG and President of ATIXA. Recognized nationally for her contributions to higher education, she is an expert in civil rights law, specifically harassment, discrimination, sexual misconduct and violence, ADA and disability issues, and the First Amendment. She has extensive expertise on campus access, risk management and liability, student discipline and conduct, intellectual property, and employee misconduct. She is the former President of the Association for Student Conduct Administration (ASCA). 

Schuster is a trusted decision-maker in proceedings related to sexual misconduct, discrimination, and Title IX grievances. She collaborates with educational institutions on policy development, faculty handbooks, employee manuals, and compliance training to meet state and federal requirements. Additionally, she provides litigation consulting, training, and serves as an expert witness. 

She has provided extensive consultation and training to the U.S. Department of Justice, the Office on Violence Against Women (OVW), the White House Task Force on Sexual Assault, and Futures Without Violence. An accomplished author, she has contributed to several books and chapters on the First Amendment and student conduct, notably co-authoring The First Amendment: A Handbook for College and University Administrators. Additionally, she co-authored The Book on BIT by NABITA, showcasing her expertise in higher education and behavioral intervention.  

Before joining TNG, Schuster served as General Counsel for Sinclair Community College, Senior Assistant Attorney General for the State of Ohio, and Associate General Counsel for the University of Toledo. She was also the Associate Dean of Students at The Ohio State University, Director of the Office of Learning Assistance at Miami University, and Assistant Dean at Western College. She has held teaching positions at The Ohio State University, Miami University, and Columbus State Community College. 

Schuster is a widely respected mentor and educator, celebrated for her warmth, empathy, and legal acumen in helping practitioners align compliance requirements with mission-focused policy development.  

She holds a J.D. from The Ohio State University, an M.S.in Student Personnel & Counseling, and a B.S. in Education from Miami University. She is admitted to the Ohio State Bar, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. 

Schuster lives in Ohio/Florida with her family.
